Above The River Shore
From sunrise to sunset she stands above the river shore
Waiting for his schooner to return like it always has before
Her dress and hair are blowing in a northeastern wind
She is afraid soon much stronger winds might move in.
It worries her he's been gone longer than she thought he'd be
Could it be his schooner is somewhere fighting a raging sea?
She prays his schooner endures and brings him safely home
Tears are falling from her eyes, she's feeling terribly alone.
A house with a white picket fence they are planning to build
They both agreed upon his return their dreams they will fulfill
Their last night they shared together the sunrise came too fast
She stands above the river shore praying it won't be their last.
