I stand in awe watching
the winds of a raging storm
methodically eating away
a yielding ocean shoreline

No white flags can be raised
against a raging storms might
it has no ears to hear
merciful pleas of any kind

I wonder how many schooner
captains stayed with their ships
standing at attention saluting
the power of nature's might

As the ocean reached up and
devoured their ships in one gulp
only the ocean knows how many
lost their lives someday or night.

Yet I wonder
