Only These Roses

I found a bouquet

Of red roses

Lying on the ground

I wish I knew

Whose roses I had found.

I hope someone's heart

Wasn't rejected today

By someone they loved

Who threw these roses away.

I cradled the roses

Next to my heart

For some unknown reason

With them I didn't

Want to part.

I'll take the roses home

And give them to my wife

Perhaps the roses were meant

To heal our strife.

Only these roses know.
