Tonight When I Go

To Bed

This morning when I told you

I didn't love you anymore

It was one of my fits of anger

Like so many I've pulled before.

Then when you packed

And walked out the door

Something in my heart told me

You wouldn't come back anymore.

Tonight when I go to bed

If I forget and reach for you

I'll find an emptiness so cold

And realize I've lost a love

That was so warm and so true.

I don't believe you'll forgive me

But I do know I'm going to try

To win your love back again

And hope you didn't mean forever

When you told me good-bye.
